Journalist Recognition Series: Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts is the host of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and renowned American television broadcaster. Roberts started her on air broadcast career after obtaining a scholarship at Southeastern Louisiana University. At Southeastern Louisiana University, she was one of the most outstanding female basketball players in school history.
Prior to her career on GMA, she was a sportscaster on ESPN for 15 years. Here she pioneered her famous saying “Go on with your bad self” and established a character as an on air journalist. In 2005, the year of her promotion to co-anchor for Good Morning America, Roberts anchored a series of emotional reports from the Gulf of Mississippi that was tragically struck by Hurricane Katrina.
Roberts has accumulated a variety of awards including a 2001 Mel Greenberg Media Award and NABJ’s 2014 Salute to Excellence Award for Television – Feature Long Form.
