-Social media research internship

The Science and Technology Innovation Program (STIP) at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is currently seeking a media-focused intern for Spring 2013. The mission of STIP is to explore the scientific and technological frontier, stimulating discovery and bringing new tools to bear on public policy challenges that emerge as science advances. Specific project areas include: nanotechnology, synthetic biology, Do-It-Yourself biology, the use of social media in disaster response, serious games, geoengineering, and additive manufacturing. Interns will work closely with a small, interdisciplinary team. Applicants should be a graduate or undergraduate student with a background or strong interest in journalism, science/technology policy, public policy and/or policy analysis.

Solid reporting, writing and computer skills are a must. Experience with video/audio editing and new media is strongly desired.

Responsibilities include assisting with the website/social media, writing and editing, helping produce and edit short-form videos, staffing events and other duties as assigned.

Applicants should be creative, ready to engage in a wide variety of tasks and able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment. The internship is expected to last for 3-5 months at 15-20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible. Please include 2-3 writing samples/clips and links to any video/documentary work. Compensation may be available.

-Local: Graphic design internship for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Syracuse
Working with the Executive Director, the intern will assist with the development of all print media related to regional special events to ensure fundraising growth by executing best practices. Roles and Responsibilities: Based in the Syracuse-area office, interns work with Foundation staff and volunteers to promote and implement regionally-based fundraising events. -Seniors: Edelman Associate Enrichment Program

The Edelman Associate Enrichment Program is an 18 month rotation program created specifically for exceptional performers who are looking to gain broad exposure to the PR industry and Edelman specifically.  The program allows for bright, talented individuals to develop through high-quality work assignments, mentorship opportunities and exposure to various practice groups within Edelman.

The program will provide participants the opportunity to accelerate their professional growth and expand a wide range of PR skill sets in key practice groups within the agency.  Each participant will rotate through various practices that include, but are not limited to Media, Digital, Consumer, Health, Corporate and Financial IR/Crisis. Each rotation will last 3-6 months. Participants of the program will have a rotation supervisor, attend progress meetings with human resources and will also be paired with a “buddy” as well as a senior-level mentor.

Basic Qualifications

The Enrichment Assistant Account Executive applicants must be a currently enrolled senior at a university and should have at least 6 months of previous internship or work experience in PR or a related field. They must have an accumulative GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.

Preferred Qualifications

The Enrichment Assistant Account Executive (EAAE) should have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The EAAE should also be flexible and adaptable to change and have a strong ability to multi-task as well as creative problem solving skills.


Research, compile and analyze client media coverage

Write, edit and proofread materials including press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets and client correspondence

Provide client service administration support, attend meetings while also handling billing support, scheduling and logistics

Strong knowledge of social media tools, computer skills and ability to multi-task

O, The Oprah Magazine is looking for smart, diligent and enthusiastic editorial interns for the spring of 2013, beginning in mid-January. This internship is for academic credit only.
